all work and some play

May 19th, 2006

Did I mention I have a job? I have to go to the office at least twice a week – okay so it’s a part time job but still it can be very demanding.

It started when my mom’s boss asked to meet the cute little dog in the pictures on her desk. So I got to go as a sort of show-and-tell object, but of course her boss was immediately smitten with me. After that first visit he said that I should come and visit maybe a couple times a month. By the second visit he said once a week would be fine. Then soon it was twice a week, and it could be more if I wanted.
I like it because I get paid in treats – the boss man is very generous! Plus we take breaks and go outside where there’s a nice lawn and sometimes bunnies, and one time canadian geese, and a couple weeks ago I chased a squirrel up this tree!

They always return to the scene of the crime, so I keep looking for him.
Then after I get a little taste of everybody’s lunch because I’m so cute they just can’t resist (don’t worry, it’s a very small office), I settle in for my afternoon duties.

Hey, it’s hard work being adored around here!

happy hour

May 15th, 2006

I thought I would share my favorite time of the day with you… Dinner Time!

dinner

Breakfast time is a good time too, but it’s pretty simple. I get a little liquid glucosomine with my dry food which is some kinda all-natural, no preservatives, kibble made from all kinds of veggies and hormone-free chicken. It’s pretty tasty.
But dinner is special! Mom mixes up some of this dehydrated food that has chicken & veggies & all kinds of good stuff that’s good for me with some hot water. But then I have to wait for the longest 10 minutes of the day to eat it. She sets a timer, and I try to be patient, but once that bell rings I put Pavlov’s dogs to shame. I start doing the happy dance and making lots of noise in case they didn’t hear the bell. Then mom adds some stuff, usually a little of my dry food, but sometimes rice or sometimes if they have chicken or turkey for dinner I get that – that’s the best!
So, if you’re bored with your food tell your people to get you some “Honest Kitchen.” It’s deeeelicious!

I’m soooo tired..

[Editors Note: For those who may be concerned, Kylie’s check up with Dr. Monica went well yesterday, though she did get poked in the eyelid again! She said it looked better, and we should just do the compress & goop twice a day until it clears up further.]

Be kind to Kylie

May 8th, 2006

Last week was “be kind to animals week,” but you know what they did to me? Well they spotted a suspicious bump on my eyelid, and especially since the “toe incident” no bump shall be left un-poked! So I went to see Dr. Monica, the greatest vet ever, and she literally poked me in the eyelid! She got some gunk out and looked at it in a microscope and said it doesn’t look like anything to worry about, probably just a mildly infected hair follicle. So now three times a day we have to put a warm compress on my eye for a couple minutes, then put some goop on it. Tomorrow I have to go back to Dr. Monica for a re-check.

Here’s the bright side and why Monica is the greatest vet ever.. everytime I go see her I get a whole jar of babyfood!! And sometimes she even sticks an extra jar in my mom’s purse. This started when I went for acupuncture a couple years ago. I had hurt my shoulder playing outside and couldn’t shake the limp, so they decided that sticking a bunch of needles in me would fix me. I was skeptical. But it worked! I had one session a week for four weeks, and after the second one, no more limping! And what was even weirder, it didn’t hurt at all. Then when I was done, I got babyfood – yumm! I highly recommend it – acupuncture AND babyfood!

mooo…

Sometimes when i’m outside i take a little nibble of the grass, but i always get yelled at! “Kylie, don’t eat the grass!” “Kylie, stop that could have pesticide on it!” ..oh the drama! Sometimes a dog just needs a little green! So we found a solution – indoor grass!

Birthdays of the rich and famous

April 26th, 2006

..Okay I’m not rich and only semi-famous, but I had a quite a sassy birthday celebration in Vail! Where there was sadly a lack of snow but no lack of luxury and of course the traditional birthday happy meal! Here are the highlights:

Lucky 13

It’s birthday week! In less than one week, I will officially be a teenager! Woohoo! Most days I act more like 13 months old than almost 13 years old, so take my word for it folks… You’re only as old as you act!

Pinky

April 12th, 2006

This is Pinky pinky

I HATE Pinky!!  me&pinky

I like to just sit and chomp on his head. me&pinky

He doesn’t squeak or anything, but I know it hurts him and that’s all that matters. Sometimes Pinky disappears for days or even weeks at a time, when I know he’s off plotting world domination. But he always turns up again eventually, and I chomp on his head again. My family thinks I’m obsessed! They even did one of those popartpet.com portraits that they do to demonstrate my Pinky problem! But as long as I can chomp on Pinky’s head… no problem.
