Happy Birthday To Me !

April 24th, 2002

Finally! It’s my BIRTHDAY! But I’ve been partying since Saturday. My friend Dragen had a party for me on Saturday. Now that I think about it, his birthday was last week and the huge cake had HIS name on it.. Still, I’m pretty sure that all those people and other dogs were there in my honor. It was fun, even though I spent part of the day in my back pack because I started trouble with this one dog, but he had it coming. backpack (12k image)
At the end of the party, Dragen’s mom, gave me MY present – My own Birthday Cake! It is made with chicken and garlic and (fat free) cream cheese frosting. It is the yummiest thing on heaven and earth! I have had some every day since Sunday
cake (3k image) Today I slept late, then went to the store, and spent my Birthday money on treats. Then we went to McDonald’s because I always have a happy meal on my Birthday. That was yummy too, and I got a Hot Wheels tow truck as my free toy.

loot (16k image) A giant warthog, a bubble blower with bacon scented bubbles, some grrRibs, and other misc. treats and toys. Not bad! But boy, am I tired. And tomorrow I’m going to Boulder to go shopping at Colorado Canines, as Birthday Week festivities continue. Glad you got to share it with me!

The trials and tribulations of my toys

April 17th, 2002

It has not been a good week to be one of my toys. A couple of days ago I was in the middle of a game of keep-away with my second favorite toy, my squeaky hedgehog. The game had moved onto the balcony when suddenly it took a dangerous turn for the hedgehog. One minute he’s sailing back and forth just over my head, the next he ricochets right thru the railing and down to the ground. It was a little upsetting. I could see him just laying down there, lifeless on the decorative bed of rocks. But my mom took me downstairs to rescue him. I carried him all the way back inside and I’m happy to report he was no worse for wear.
Then today, and I don’t know how this happened, I go to the kitchen to get a drink of water, and there is my most favorite toy, my squeaky ball, IN my water bowl. I will be conducting an in-depth investigation into this incident. My mom retrieved the ball from my bowl and squeezed the excess water out in the sink, but then she wouldn’t let me have it! She put it in a windowsill and said I could play with it when it dries. I whined for a bit but to no avail, so I decided to take it out on the hedgehog. This time I kept him away from the balcony.
If this keeps up I’ll need new toys to torture. It’s a good thing my birthday is only 7 days away!

Bunny Hunting

April 8th, 2002

flower Well it’s spring again, and Daylight Savings Time. This is great for me! Not only do I get to eat an hour earlier every day (you see my internal clock never changes), it stays bright and sunny longer. That means more bunny hunting! In case anyone from PETA is reading this, don’t worry It’s really just bunny chasing, I am on a leash at all times (lucky for the bunnies). And the bunnies know I’m on a leash too! They hop just out of reach then stop, then I come a little closer, and they go a little farther. I hate those bunnies! But I love to chase them! Oh, and more good news, my ear cleared up quite nicely.

Alien Invasion

March 31st, 2002

I had to go to the vet, again this week. I was just there for my yearly check-up and the doctor pronounced me to be in excellent health. Personally I think that should be worthy of a cash prize after all the poking and prodding I put up with. Then a few days later there’s some sort of alien invasion taking place in my ear! This has happened to before actually, always my left ear. It gets itchy and sore and I have to go to the doctor, then my mom has to put medicine in it for a week. Let me tell you, it’s not just a pain in the ear if you know what I mean! This time my mom and my vet decided to try something more progressive – I had acupuncture! I had little tiny needles in my ear and in my foot, and it didn’t even hurt! And this time instead of medicine we’re using an herbal treatment. My mom is on this all-natural, healthy kick with me. So hopefully no more ear aliens!
Hey, I bet the Easter Bunny gets BIG ear problems! bunny

A Brief Introduction

March 25th, 2002

As you probably know by now I am quite the world traveler, not to mention roving reporter. But inquiring minds are always asking what I do when I am not on the road or on the trail of my next big story. So to satisfy your burning curiosities I have decided to keep an on-line journal. Now my faithful readers can keep tabs on me on a weekly basis.
From the manic to the mundane to the profoundly personal I hope you enjoy this insight into the Life of Kylie (or as I’m thinking of calling it, “The Mind of a Mad Dog“).

Sincerely,
Kylie

A Day in the Life

March 25th, 2002

For my first journal entry I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what an average day in the life of Kylie is like. It usually goes a little something like this:

Breakfast
Nap
Gaze out window for about an hour
Nap
Afternoon walk
Nap
Gaze out window some more
Nap
Dinner
Nap
Evening play time
Nap
Bed time

It’s a pretty demanding schedule I know, but I believe for optimum health a dog needs at least six naps a day. It is also imperative to make time for several spontaneous cookie breaks!
