Go south for the winter...NO WAY, thats for the birds!! I love cold weather
and snow so I spent my winter touring New England. How else could I debut my
winter wardrobe?
My first stop was Rhode Island, the little state
with the big name.
We
stayed in Newport for a glimpse of the lifestyles of the extremely rich if not
the famous. Now I'm not one who is easily impressed, but wow! I could get used
to that. And sporting my sassy berber fleece in hazy shades of winter, I fit
right in. We did some shopping too, I especially enjoyed Newport's
Gourmet Dog Bakery, YUMMY!!. It was quite chilly and we all needed to warm
up. My family stopped at a cozy cafe called Kalhoun's
for some cocoa. The gentleman working there was kind enough to invite me
in as well, (so he gets a free plug - GO to Kalhoun's when in Rhode Island)
He even served me bottled water in my own cafe' latte mug. And the sandwiches
were spectacular! We all shared in the tasty morsels.
Then
we made a short visit to Mystic, Connecticut, a sleepy little seaside town.
It was very scenic and quaint, but ironically not so mystic.
Next stop, New Haven, home of Yale University, where
I again was dressed to impress in my brilliant red parka. Yale is nice, but
personally I prefer Princeton.
Finally it was my triumphant return to Boston after
a two-year probation imposed after my "alleged" attempted assault on a couple
of Golden Retrievers.
Now
let me just say for the record that if I had in fact started something
with either one of those pompous, blonde, bean-town , bozos, they had it coming.
Nonetheless, I maintain my innocence
While shopping in Boston I visited Angel Dog, a lovely little shoppe for dogs
and dog lovers. (doesn't that cover everyone?) I have to thank everybody at
Presidents City Inn for making my return to Boston such a success. Not only
did their accommodations leave me quite cozy after a long day of shopping, they
even kept me company while my family went to a Bruins game.
The only thing missing from my winter vacation was snow. Fortunately, we got some back at home. Not the blizzard that I was hoping for, but enough for a good snowball fight. So now that Spring has sprung, it's nice to sit in the sun and reflect on the ice-capades of my winter wonderland. Between that and the NJ Devils in the playoffs, I'll be keeping cool all summer long.
