Like millions before me I had long heard the call of the west coast and sunny
California. It beckoned me and finally I answered. I made the long journey over
the mountains and through the dessert and found that California was everything
I had dreamed of. But I must warn you it is a very long drive, at least from
Colorado.
First we had to cross the Rocky Mountains, which are breathtaking and all, but there sure are a lot of them. Then we got to Utah, Home of the 2002 Winter Olympics as their state sign proudly boasts. Utah is very scenic, especially if you like red rocks and tumbleweeds. The Grand Canyon State came next. Came and went is more like it. We only drove across the corner of Arizona and it was night time. But I'll definitely be going back to see that canyon thing. Then we reached Nevada which provided an oasis in the dessert, Las Vegas. Now I know why they say, "Viva Las Vegas!" This place is amazing! I spent hours on the strip, hypnotized by the flashing lights. Also I was looking for a casino that would let me gamble. I tried explaining that I do have my own money, but no dice. (Hey, now I also know why they say "no dice.") My dream is a Vegas casino that caters to dogs specifically. Imagine what that might look like...Anyway, I decided to get back on the road again. Next stop La La Land, Los Angeles.
The Hollywood Hills, the walk of stars, and Mickey Mouse, I saw it all! Actually, I didn't see Mickey personally, but my family went to Disneyland and said they had a serious talk with him about letting dogs in the park. If they're going to let Pluto and Goofy in, how can they keep the rest of us out? (Goofy is a dog isn't he? I was always unclear.) In the meantime I was getting spoiled rotten, California style, courtesy of my friends there. By the way, thanks again for all the roast beef guys!
I felt right at home in California.
Everyone there is just so cool and laid back - like me. It's really my kind
of place. That's why I am lobbying to change the name of the state to "Kylie-fornia."
I can't wait to go back!
