I have added the ring code to the URL above
In order for the ring to function you must have the code on the same page
we link to.
To make it easier for users to utilize the ring we will link to the page that
the code is on. If you have "Rings and Links" page thats where we point to.
Our reason is simple, we don't want anyone to have to go searching to find the
ring, so that they can visit the other sites. If you move the code and we happen
upon the change without you notifying us,yours site may be suspended until the
updates are made. Should you remove the code entirely after joining, your site
will be omitted.
Its very important that you put the correct URL here.
I have read the guidelines for
the ring and my site does qualify.
As of August 2000 we decided to employ a more stringent set of guidelines. We
did this for a few reasons;
The first being that we were getting an alarming number of "puppy for sale
sites". This became a matter of concern to those of use who maintain the ring.
The Jack Russell is a breed of dog, that isn't for everyone, its a dog that
has special needs. But the breed has become so popular that many Jacks who were
purchased without the owners first researching the breed, ended up homeless.
Now there are so many Jacks out there that need homes, we feel we shouldn't
breed or sell until we can take care of those in need. Too many, precious, special
and wonderful Jack Russells have tragically been put down because of a lack
of education.
The second reason for the guidelines was that the ring was becoming overwhelmed
with sites that were lacking content. I think we can all agree that we like
to see pages that have captivating content, and no one likes a page that is
just a bunch of links. That said, we want to keep visitors coming to our pages
and the only way to do so is to provide them with what they want. Based on the
feedback we receive we know people want to see your Jack! They like the pictures,
the stories, and the information. A good site provides all of that. Those are
the sites we want. We are maintaining a pretty high standard we know, but its
to the benefit of us all.
The final reason for the updated guidelines is simply necessity. Our ring grew
from a small easily managed ring, to one with well over 100 sites. It takes
a lot of time and energy to maintain it and therefore we want it to be worthwhile.
So we wanted to be sure that we were adding quality sites, not just any site
that signs up. While this might sound a little snobbish, that is not how it
is intended. With the Internet and the World Wide Web becoming so popular and
mainstream, everyone, their dog and their cat, has a web page, but we all know
not all of them are all that interesting. Sometimes people just want to make
a page for the fun of it and that's fine. That doesn't mean its going to be
something that we all want to see. We have a large number of visitors and a
they have provided a wealth of information on what they like. We want this ring
to be successful, we want to provide your site with visitors, and the only way
to do that is to limit the sites we include and to be selective in the ones
that we do.
We do hope that you understand and hopefully your site will be one that we
want to add. We too love to see your dogs and read about their adventures and
antics. If you feel that you do meet the above guidelines PLEASE submit your
site. But also be aware that we might not feel your page is ready to be added.
If that's the case, you may disagree and you are certainly entitled to your
opinion, but please understand it is not personal. These guidelines were established
and are applied as fairly as possible. We have also provided links to other
rings that might be of interest to you as an alternative. They have much looser
standards and they too will bring visitors to your site. Good luck in your endeavors
on the web!
